NSMQ PRELIMS: Adu Gyamfi SHS ‘Whips’ ABUGISS

Adu Gyamfi SHS easily defeated Aburi Girls’ SHS and Sefwi Wiawso SHS to go to the One-Eighth Stage.
Adu Gyamfi Senior High School beat Aburi Girls’ SHS in the second day’s opening event at KNUST’s Kumapley Auditorium. Adu Gyamfi was a tough opponent for Aburi Girls Senior High School and Sefwi Wiawso SHS.
The competition was filled with drama and excitement, interrupted by exciting shouts and ‘jama’ from Adu Gyamfi SHS fans.
The competition started with the two dominating schools, Adu Gyamfi SHS and Aburi Girls’ SHS, showing off their academic superiority over Sefwi Wiawso SHS. Adu Gyamfi SHS defeated ABUGISS by one point in round one.
At the end of round 1;
Adu Gyamfi SHS: 15pts
Aburi Girls’ SHS: 14pts
Sehwi Wiawso SHS: 06pts
Sefwi Wiawso SHS got three of their six points deducted for incorrect responses in round two. Adu Gyamfi and Aburi Girls’, on the other hand, maintained their domination, with Aburi Girls surpassing Adu Gyamfi by 6 points. At this point, the tension between supporters of the two prominent schools could be felt in the audience.
At the end of round 2;
Aburi Girls’ SHS: 20 points;
Adu Gyamfi SHS: 16 points; and
Sefwi Wiawso: 3 points
Adu Gyamfi SHS closed the deficit with three points in round three (3), while Aburi Girls and Sefwi Wiawso both earned 0 points. The problem of the day remained for all three schools. Despite scoring 0 points in round three, the “Royal Beads” maintained their lead in the competition.
The power struggle between the two main schools took an unexpected turn in round four when Adu Gyamfi found its stride. They dominated the True or False Questions and seized command of the competition in round four, outscoring Aburi Girls’ SHS by fourteen (14) points.
They increased their lead in round 5 by properly answering three riddles, earning the GOIL Riddle Bonanza cash prize of GHC800 and won the contest with forty-one (41) points.
