NSS National President Speaks On NSS Allowance Deductions.
Ever since the government of Ghana under the leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo announced the increment of National Service allowance, personnel have been encountering serious challenges. The current problem battling with National Service Personnel has to do with NSS allowance deduction. Two months now whenever payment is made by the Government of Ghana, there will be a constant deduction of a specific amount of money will be noticed.
In July 2023, the NSS allowance deductions affected all personnel across the country. The same story happened when the National Service Personnel allowance for August 2023 was made. Noticing that another amount has been deducted from the NSS Allowance for the second time, personnel express their heartfelt grievances across the country by sending various messages on all social media platforms. Some even went to the extent of calling their Regional and District (Municipal) directors in charge of the National Service Scheme (NSS) to inquire about the brain behind the second deductions of their allowance.
Deductions from August 2023, Personnel Allowance. Information reaching the National Service Committee is that some extra deductions have been made on the August 2023 payment of Personnel Allowances. Leadership followed up with the Accounts Department this morning to confirm otherwise. Initial checks confirmed that the deductions were inadvertently affected through the automated system which was used for the July 2023 allowance. Management of the scheme is therefore in agreement with the leadership that the over-deductions should be refunded to all National Service Personnel across the country. Leadership therefore appeals for calm among the rank and file while we work and ensure that the monies inadvertently deducted are duly and promptly refunded to affected personnel across the country. We wish you all well, Signed by Gideon Osei, National President, NSS.
