NTC increases GTLE fees for 2022 exam by 25%, teachers ask hard questions
NTC increases GTLE fees for the 2022 exam by 25% teachers ask hard questions which demand timely answers to clarify the matter for teachers.
Teachers who are preparing for the first edition of the 2022 GTLE have questioned why the National Teaching Council (NTC) increased the examination fee to GHS350 for new entrants.
The GTLE exam fees for 2022 went up from GHS280 in 2021 to GHS350 in 2022 which is a 25% increase over what was charged in 2021.
The NTC did not make any official announcement and has not given any reasons for the upward adjustment of the GTLE fees. Teachers have therefore called on the various teacher unions to take steps to find answers to their questions given the current economic conditions.

A teacher who reacted to the increase in the GTLE fees had this to say: “When I say that this NTC whatever are in to enrich themselves people disagree. How can you charge such an outrageous amount for registration? In any case, how many papers are they going to write? This is thievery. Always finding ways and means to impoverish teachers more.”
In 2021, the Teaching Council indicated fresh candidates will pay GHȻ 280.00 and GHȻ 150.00 for re-sitters writing one resit-paper, GHȻ 250.00 for two papers and GHȻ 280.00 for three papers…. Candidates who are re-sitting are to pay GHȻ 150.00 for 1 Re-sit paper. Candidates who are re-sitting 2 papers are to pay GHȻ 250.00. Candidates who are re-sitting all 3 papers are to pay GHȻ 280.00″.
However, the 2022 fees released by the NTC show that fresh candidates are required to pay GHȻ 350.00 to register for the examination, candidates who are re-sitting a paper are to pay GHȻ 150.00, candidates who are re-sitting two (2) papers are to pay GHȻ 210.00 and those candidates who are re-sitting all three (3) papers are to pay GHȻ 350.00.
In a related development, NTC has provided answers to some disturbing questions posed by teachers to the council on its Facebook page.
