Obusumasua Presby Primary School Appeals For Assistance In Renovation And Resources

Pupils at Obusumasua Presby Primary School in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region have made a heartfelt request to the government for assistance in renovating and furnishing their deteriorating school building.

The Keziah Addoquaye Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in the United States of America that generously donated book bags to all students, made these appeals during a recent visit.

Obusumasua Presby Primary School was established in 1961 as a community school. Ayernor generously provided a free plot of land for the school’s construction.

Dademantse Ayernor of Obusumasua, Dademantse of Akorwu-Bana, Oklu Kwadjo, and Obusumasua Presby Primary School opinion leaders from neighbouring communities such as Asiafo and Amanfrom convened and established the school at its current central location in 1964.

Despite starting with only 15 students, the school now has over 150 students. It does, however, face a number of challenges.

Keziah Addoquaye Foundation, based in the United States, has decided to assist the school by providing students with book bags.

During an interview with GBC Sunrise FM, the foundation’s founder, Lilly Ofosu Addoquaye, revealed that the organization was inspired by her late daughter, Keziah Addoquaye, who tragically died at the age of 14. The foundation now organizes this annual donation to honour her memory.
