One Shot Dead, Two Arrested Over Armed Robbery In Kumasi
In the Ashanti Region, at Asuofua Asamang, on October 13, 2022, the police arrested two armed robbers and shot and killed a third one as part of a special intelligence operation.
During the operation, the man who later turned out to be Issaka Muniru was shot when he tried to shoot at the police. He was taken to the hospital right away, but when they got there, they said he was dead.
Two of his helpers, Kwaku Boateng aka Form Noede, and Kojo Gyamfi, were also caught by the police. The police have taken both of them into custody, and they will be taken to court to face justice.
Police found a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE pistol that was used to shoot at the officers, as well as thirteen (13) live rounds.
Issaka Muniru and his gang of thieves has been involved in a number of robberies in and around the Kumasi Metropolis for many years.
Before he died, Issaka Muniru was on trial at the Nkawie Circuit Court with Ernest Agyei Badu (aka “Gangster”), Rider, and MBY for robbing Pastor Emmanuel Barfour Awuah of Abuakwa Abakomadi with a gun on May 26, 2021, and taking his two (2) gold wristwatches, mobile phones, and an unknown amount of money.

The court gave bail to the person who died, but he skipped bail, so a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. His helpers are still in court for their trials.
In another robbery, Issaka Muniru, who has since died, was named as the gang leader. Charles Kojo Fosu, Yaw Anim, and Paul Osafo, who were also in his gang, were arrested, but he was able to get away. Since then, the three suspects have been sent back to prison.
The police chiefs lauded the Ashanti Regional Police Command, particularly the Regional Intelligence and Operations teams.
The Service has also assured the public that it would continue its constitutional duties of safeguarding life, property, and law and order even if it puts their lives at risk.
