Do you know that 447 Free SHS enrolled less than 30 students out of every 100 who chose them in 2021? This data is from the Free SHS Secretariat and should serve as useful information in school selection. The Ministry of Education is also on record to have indicated that over 3000 BECE candidates who scored between Aggregate 9 and 15 in 2021 were not placed in any of their six school choices, for which reason the ministry has introduced the cluster option for the 2022 school selection and placement.
To help avoid disappointment, non-placement, and lost opportunities, the Free SHS Secretariat has released 2021 school selection and placement data as a guide for 2022 School Selection by parents and their wards.
Be careful about the schools you select in 2022 so that you do not regret making the wrong choices.
The data released by Free SHS Secretariat covers 498 chosen 3,165,554 times by the 2021 BECE candidates only 385,365 representing 12.17% were placed in the schools cumulatively.
Out of the 498 schools, 32 of the schools enrolled up to 5% of candidates. Thus, 5 students out of 100 gained admission into these schools.
Out of the 498 schools, 113 schools enrolled between 6% and 10% of the candidates who chose them. This means between 6 and 10 students got placed out of every 100 students who chose them.

Out of the 498 schools, 181 schools gave admission to between 16-30 students out of every 100 that chose the schools.
Out of the 498 schools, 45 schools admitted between 31-55 candidates out of every 100 students who chose these schools.
The above shows that more students are going to be displaced or will miss school placement if parents fail to make the right choices.
