Only 4 first-year students report to Nkwanta SHTS as reporting day ends today

The Headmaster of Nkwanta Senior High Technical School (SHTS), Mr Emmanuel Atimemo, says only four (4) first-year students placed into the school have reported for admission.
According to sources, the computer placement system (CSSPS) secretariat allocated the school only 190 students, but checks revealed that only a little over 60 of the 190 allocated students accepted the offer to enroll in the school.
According to the management of the Nkwanta Senior High Technical School (SHTS), the second-cycle school currently has the infrastructure to declare approximately 700 vacancies for fresh students.
Speaking to a journalist, the Headmaster attributed the poor attendance of first-year students to the ongoing conflict that necessitated the closure of the schools in the Oti Region in June 2025.
He acknowledged the community’s lingering fear but offered firm assurances regarding the school environment, urging parents to enroll their children, emphasizing the restored peace in Nkwanta South and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Education Service (GES) says students who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and are entering Senior High School as first-year students have three days to report to the schools where they’ve been placed through the computerized placement system.
In a social media post sighted by Pretertiary.com, the Ghana Education Service said the first-year SHS students’ school reporting date starts from Saturday, October 18, 2025, to Monday, October 20, 2025
“The about 590,000 first-year SHS students are reporting to school today, tomorrow, and Monday. 3 days for reporting. We welcome them and wish them well,” GES stated in a Facebook post.
