Are SHS 1 Students Reporting On March 10 After 2020 SHS Placement Delays?
2020 SHS Placement delays keep generating a lot of interest and questions. The question on the minds of parents and students waiting for the 2020 SHS placement is “Are SHS1 students going to school on March 10?”
The Ghana Education Service (GES) must be sincere with the public with 2020 SHS Placements delays and provide good reasons for the current bad experience.
The caveat which was given by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa in his last engagement with Graphic online was “Barring any last-minute hitches, this year’s schools placement will be out on Sunday, February 21”seems to have done the GES a lot of good since they can refer us all to it.
Are SHS 1 Students Reporting On March 10 After 2020 SHS Placement Delays?
It is barely two weeks to reopening of school for SHS1 students, but parents and students do not know their school placements. Any more delay would require a postponement of 10th March 2021 as the reopening date for SHS1 students. The GES is yet to come out with any new changes. Until such changes come, the March 10th reopening date for SHS1 and GOLD Track -SHS2 students still holds. Any significant changes in the reopening date should not be expected.
Parents need to know whether their children will be admitted for boarding or day school so that they can start buying the needed items, especially for boarding school. A section of the public has argued that parents should start making such purchases. That will be a gamble.
A visit to the Computerized School Selection & Placement System (CSSPS) and the image below pops up if candidates click on CHECK PLACEMENT. Until this letter is removed, it is an indication that students cannot check their placements.
In an attempt to provide an efficient and effective system, GES sacrificed speed and timeliness. The general public has become impatient after the failure of the service to release the placements.
GES has not been able to accomplish its task of releasing the 2020 SHS Placements with regards amount of time spent and efforts. In its latest press release, the service indicated that its efforts at creating regional centres for resolving challenges as well as covid-19 contributed to the delay.
However, this portal holds the view that these excuses are unacceptable. Let pro-activeness, system qualify, and strategic planning guide our education service to give stakeholders a better customer experience.
The degree to which the 2020 School placement will be successful will be measured by the time it took to release it. If after the delays, the placement faces any avoidable setbacks, the general public may blame the GES for not doing a good job.
