O’Reilly SHS To Be Sued Over Death Of Final Year Student
Enoch Sackey, the father of Edward Sackey, a final-year student at O’Reilly Senior High School (SHS) has threatened to sue the school following the death of his son. His son was stabbed three times in the chest during a fight with another student on campus.
The incident happened on September 2, 2024 and for Enoch Sackey it is still like a terrible nightmare. Enoch Sackey says he has been speaking to lawyers as they prepare.
“We have to sue the school, we have to hold the school responsible. We want the school authorities to come out to explain and tell us, why such a thing would happen in a school premises that the teachers, nobody tried to interfere… they were all unconcerned until my son passed away, so we have to sue them that is the intention of the family,” he said
Enoch Sackey, the child’s father said that it is particularly disturbing that the school did not appear to care or take any action after the incident occurred.
“We have to sue the school; we have to hold the school accountable” he said.
Earlier today, the Sackey family, wearing red and black mourning clothes, converged on the school to push for answers about Edward’s death from the school and parents of student who police say stabbed him to death. The father said that the fact that the school had not reached out to his family since Edward was killed compounded their frustration.

“The school authorities have not said anything from yesterday, the police have not called and even the family of the boy who killed my son has not reached out. We want answers from the school authorities and the parents of the boy. We want justice and want to know what happened,” he said.
Niece of the deceased also said disclosed this;
“When the chaos started my brother run to the teachers who were sitting under the tree in the school compound…I was calling the guy to stop but they didn’t mind me, so I decided to go to my uncle who has a shop outside the school to report to him what was happening since the teachers are not doing anything.
“The guy is not someone he will joke, when he is coming to school, he has this small bag which contains a lot of harmful substances like knife,” she said
