Pablo & Dr Hanna Bissiw retained at NDC congress

Ernest Yaw Brogya Genfi lost his bid to lead the youth wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the second time.
He only got 503 votes, while the current leader, George Opare Addo, aka “Pablo,” got 533 votes at a congress last Saturday in Cape Coast in the Central Region.
In the race for National Women’s Organizer, the current leader, Dr. Hanna Louisa Bissiw, beat her opponent, Margaret Ansei Magoo, a former MCE for Suhum, with 433 votes to 362 votes.
Over 1,800 NDC delegates met at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) to vote on candidates for the party’s positions of National Youth Organiser, Deputy Youth Organiser, Women’s, and Deputy Women’s Organiser.
Before the race, which took place on the campus of Cape Coast University, Pablo was smeared with the claim that he was backed by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and was a spy for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In fact, the National Communications Director of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, was openly against him and for Mr. Gyenfi. He held press conferences and campaigned for Mr. Gyenfi, which surprised many people.
Pablo had also been called anti-John Mahama and said to support Dr. Kwabena Duffour, who is running against Mr. Mahama for the NDC flagbearer position next year.
But in the end, Pablo beat Brogya, who had to deal with pictures going viral of a V8 Toyota Land cruiser in his possession. The vehicle was linked to Anthony Abayifa Karbo, who was a former National Youth Organizer of the NPP and Deputy Minister of Road Transport in the Akufo-Addo government.
The car, with the license plate number GR 8252-17, belonged to Mr. Karbo for a long time. He said that he sent it back to the dealer last year to get something else.
He told The Herald in a short phone call that he couldn’t figure out how Mr. Brogya got the car, but he thought that he may have rented it or bought it from the dealer.
In a strange twist, both Brogya Genfi and Pablo said that the other was giving money to the delegates.
Abigail Elorm Mensah beat Felicia Dzifa Tegah for the job of Deputy National Women’s Organizer. She got 348 more votes than Felicia Dzifa Tegah. 260 people voted for.
Osman Abdulai Ayariga won the position of Deputy National Youth Organizer with 373 votes, while Ruth Dela Seddor got 313.
Reports from the contest say that two people were shot at the congress, but their names were not given and there was no information about whether they were taken to the hospital.
For the job of National Deputy Youth Organiser, Osman Abdulai Ayariga, Ruth Dela Seddoh, Bright Nudokpo Honu, Sulemana Abdul Karim, and Mohammed Abubakari Sadiq Gombilla all ran.
Kabiru Ahmed, Eric Dadson, Pendilock Owusu Asare, Obed Opintan, and Jude Sekley are the rest.
Dr. Hanna Louisa Bisiw and Margaret Ansei were both in the running for the job of Women Organiser.
Abigail Akwabea Elorm Mensah, Felicia Dzifa Tegah, Jessie Adams, and Hajia Alijata Sulemana all wanted to be the Deputy Women’s Organizer.
On December 17, the NDC will vote on who will run the party nationally.
At one point in the contest, everyone in the auditorium had to leave because there was confusion about the album for the Conference. This held up the process for hours.
Alex Segbefia, the head of the party’s elections committee, asked everyone to leave the auditorium after a very important meeting with the two candidates for the National Youth Organiser position.
He said over the public address system, “There are too many people in this room who are not delegates.”
“Because of this, we will ask everyone to leave the hall. Everyone will have to leave the room while the ballot boxes are set up.
He said that the reason the party’s electoral college was getting bigger was to make it less appealing to buy votes.
“We are actually pretty happy because it’s clear that the NDC is still going strong and everyone wants to be a part of the new government-to-be.”
“Rallying for Victory 2024, Ghana’s Hope” is the theme of the Conference.
Some national executives were seen taking sides and meddling in the elections.
This made supporters of some candidates angry when they saw national executives at the event.
Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, who is the National Chairman of the party, and Sammy Gyamfi, who is the National Communications Officer, were both at the conference.
