President Akufo Addo Appoints Minister For Pensions -See More Details
Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the current Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, has been named Minister of Pensions.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made the appointment in accordance with Section 211 of the National Pensions Act of 2008. (ACT 766).
The minister will now be in charge of the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) and the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) as of January 30, 2023.
Ignatius Baffour-Awuah revealed this when he appeared before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
The minority caucus in parliament, however, has been strongly opposed to the new appointment. They believe that the decision is unsustainable in light of Ghana’s current economic difficulties, which have prompted the country to seek IMF assistance.
