At the 20th congregation of the Islamic University College, Ghana, Prof Amin Alhassan, the Director General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, delivered a compelling address emphasizing the need for universities to incorporate industry collaboration in their curriculum design.
In his speech, he underscored the importance of aligning academic offerings with the practical demands of today’s rapidly changing job market, ensuring that graduates possess the skills and knowledge required to excel.
During this significant educational event, Prof Alhassan also challenged the new graduates and the matriculating students to engage deeply with the ethical questions raised by advancements in artificial intelligence (AI).
His call to action highlighted the necessity for future leaders to navigate these complexities with insight and responsibility.

The congregation was a landmark moment for the university, celebrating the graduation of 181 students—comprising 76 males and 105 females. Notably, the cohort included 5 non-Muslim students, illustrating the institution’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
This diversity is pivotal for the university, which offers a range of programs including BA in Religious Studies, Bachelor of Business Administration, and BEd in Early Childhood Education.
Dr. Hadi Kamal Ezzat, the President of the Islamic University College, also spoke at the ceremony. He reaffirmed the university’s mission as a hub of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
Dr. Ezzat’s message was particularly resonant against the backdrop of global challenges posed by extremist groups such as ISIS and Boko Haram.
He stressed the importance of fostering attitudes that support peace and mutual understanding in a complex world.
The event also recognized outstanding academic achievements. Baani Abdul-Fatawu Azumah, the Valedictorian, was celebrated along with other top-performing students.
These individuals were honored with plaques and cash prizes, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
The highest accolade, which included a plaque and a significant cash prize of 5,000 cedis, was awarded to the overall best student in recognition of exceptional academic excellence.
This congregation not only marked a celebration of academic achievements but also served as a call to action for graduates to apply their knowledge ethically and effectively in a diverse and evolving global landscape.
