Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, GES boss dismissed
The Director General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, has been relieved of his post.
This was contained in a letter written to him by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, on behalf of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Dated Monday, October 17, 2022, the letter indicated that the Ministry of Education has informed the Office of the President that the exigencies that required Prof Opoku-Amankwa’s skills and expertise do not exist any longer.
“Accordingly, the President of the Republic has instructed that your secondment be terminated forthwith, and you are directed to return to your position at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.”

Prof Opoku-Amankwa was appointed as the Director General of the Service on secondment from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in January, 2021. This was extended six months later.
But Nana Asante Bediatuo’s letter noted that the extension was in contravention of the Human Resource Policy Framework and Manual of the Public Services Commission.
