Political Career
Mr Kwabena Boateng was the Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Ejisu Constituency. He was elected as the NPP Parliamentary candidate in the Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti Region on April 13, 2024.
He beat eight others, including former Ghana Football Association (GFA) boss Kwesi Nyantakyi, to become the NPP’s parliamentary candidate for today’s by-election.
Although the Global Info Analytics poll predicted a win of 50.6%, party stalwarts believe a lot has to be done to secure the seat with the entry of the former NPP MP.
Mr Kwabena Boateng has served the NPP in the Ejisu constituency and the Ashanti region at large for several years.

On 30th April, 2024, Mr Boateng secured 27, 782 representing 55.8% of the total votes cast while Mr Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an Independent Candidate, garnered 21, 534, representing 43.3% of the total votes cast. This is according to results collated from all 204 polling stations. Kwabena Boateng polled 27,782 votes whereas Kwabena Aduomi had 21,536.
A total of 49,780 out of the expected 100,000 voters turned out. The bye-election was necessitated by the demise of the incumbent MP, Dr John Kumah. Dr Kumah died in March after a short illness.
He is currently the MP Elect for Ejisu constituency. He will be sworn in as MP by the Speaker of Parliament when Parliament resumes in few weeks.
