Sad News As 60 Dead, Many Injured after Bridge Collapse – [Photos & Video]
A cable bridge collapsed in India and fell into a river days after being renovated, killing at least 60 people and injuring more.
Officials informed local media that over 100 people fell into the Machchu river after the Morbi district bridge collapsed in Gujarat on Sunday evening, October 30.
State minister Brijesh Merja informed TV stations that 60 people died and 17 were hospitalized.
Officials anticipate more deaths.
The renovated 19th-century colonial bridge reopened days ago.
Officials stated the bridge collapsed due to crowding.
The bridge collapsed, sending numerous people into the river. “A rescue effort is underway,” Merja told Press Trust of India.
“Several persons were injured. Hospitals are rushing them.

Social media footage showed individuals hanging onto the partially flooded bridge and swimming to safety.
Local media stated that National Disaster Response Force Teams are racing to the scene.
While visiting Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated he was “very pained by the incident.”
His administration offered compensation to the victims’ relatives and urged swift rescue.
