Official information reaching the Ghana Education News portal is that the 2026 US DV LOTTERY RESULTS are OUT. All lottery entry applicants who applied in 2024 can now check the status of their application on the official website.

Note that per the rules of the lottery, the results will be released from May 3rd, 2025, to September 30th, 2025. Ou have to keep checking your status nearly every week through out the indicated period above.

How to check your VISA lottery application status

To check, you need the following:

16-digit number beginning with the year of the DV Lottery you applied for, such as 2026
Your last name, also known as your surname
The year of birth or birth year

According to reliable information at the disposal of Ghana Education News, effective April 2025, every US VISA applicant will be required to have an accurate barcode on their DS-160 form. This form, along with the correct supporting documents, must be submitted within 72 hours and before the scheduled interview date. This is a new requirement by the US government for all foreign nationals seeking to enter the US for legitimate legal purposes.

In addition to this new requirement, a greater number of applicants who have been approved for US Visa interviews will be required to attend in-person interviews. All those planning to enter the US from April onwards must pay close attention to these new changes, as they are likely to affect travel plans.

Ghana has been ranked as the 2nd safest place in Africa with a crime rate lower than Canada and Australia. This was contained in a communique by Global tourism firm Altezza Travel. It disclosed that Ghana’s crime rate is very low, which puts Ghana in a better position to attract more tourists in the year.

The report, which recommends tourism destinations for 2025, said Ghana’s crime rate is lower than Canada, Greece, and Australia.

The report confirms the findings of several organisations oganizations that have praised the performance of the Ghana Police Service in recent times with its scaled-up community patrols.

Ghana ranked 2nd Safest in Africa Based on Global Peace Index

“In terms of the Global Peace Index, Ghana surpasses Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, China, and even Jamaica. In the Terrorism Index, it is among the countries with a zero score. Its crime rate is lower than in Canada, Greece, and Australia,” the report noted.

“Regarding the Global Safety Report and the Human Development Index, Ghana lags behind all “first-world” countries yet outperforms the majority of African nations, including popular tourist destinations like Kenya, Ethiopia, and Madagascar (often romanticized in Hollywood),” portions of the report.

It further noted: “According to the Numbeo Crime Index 2025, the top 3 countries with the lowest crime in Africa are Ghana, Rwanda, and Tunisia. However, crime can be difficult to measure, and rankings often depend on how crime is defined and reported. Different sources or indexes may rely on varying data collection methods, time frames, and survey approaches, leading to variations in their findings.”

UPSA application for staff scholarships open

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is delighted to announce that applications are now open for the award of a scholarship for eligible staff members. Staff members are therefore encouraged to apply for the university’s scholarship award. Successful applicants will study for either a degree or postgraduate programmes offered by the university as part of efforts by the institution to develop its human resource base for the future.

Students of the university are to note that this is opportunity can only be taken by a staff of the univerity and not a student persuing any programme.

Conditions for the award of Scholarship to UPSA staff applicants

• All applicants must have served the university continuously and satisfactorily for a minimum period of three (3) years from the effective date of appointment.

• Eligible programmes for scholarship funding are limited to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the university.

• The immediate supervisor must provide an evaluation report on the applicants’ performance and conduct.

• A member of staff who has been sponsored by the university to pursue further studies while carrying out his/her normal duties shall enter into a bond to serve the university upon the completion of the programme.

• No scholarship shall be granted within two years of recruitment or within two years of return from leave of absence or sabbatical leave.

• Beneficiaries of the award shall be expected to submit progress reports within the course of their studies.
