Accra, Ghana — The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has issued a critical Public Notice, sounding an alarm over 62 unrecognised tertiary institutions operating as of April 2026.
In the official statement dated Friday, 17th April 2026, GTEC’s Corporate Affairs Directorate disclosed that the listed institutions do not meet the country’s requisite quality assurance standards. The press release by GTECT means that these institutions are operating illegally and do not have the right documentation from GTEC to run one or more of their programmes in Ghana. By failing to meet the GTEC requirements, students who obtain any form of education and certificate do so at their own risk
