SHS Basic Rules And Regulations For All BECE Graduates

Every BECE graduate must know the general rules and regulations governing all Senior High Schools in the country. This will help make their stay at the secondary level successful. If you are dreaming to become a student of any of the senior high schools in Ghana, then you must know the following general rules and regulations.

  1. Students are to wear decent and simple dresses in school.
  2. Attire must be washable.
  3. Going to the dinning hall during repasts is compulsory.
  4. Victualing in the dinning hall during repast times is withal compulsory
  5. Visitors are to be received at the designated areas in the school – the Car Park, Assembly Hall, Jasper Square and Compton’s Bridge.
  6. Every student is expected to take part in the cleaning of the school. Girls who cannot take part in any form of cleaning would have to be day students.
  7. Students can utilize the pay phone in the school over the weekends. Emergency calls are handled in the Headmistress’s office.
  8. Mobile phones are stringently precluded
  9. Parcels (other than aliment) can be sent to students. They are received at the General Office and distributed to students at a given time after school
  10. Students are given exeats when it is prodigiously indispensable. Exeats are given for the following events: Weddings of parents, Funerals of parents and siblings.
  11. Students must not grow long nails
  12. No coloured polished nails
  13. Do not wear face powder and lipstick.
  14. Do not wear decorative beads, jewellery (necklace, bracelets, bangles) except small ear rings
  15. Hair must be kept short, neatly trimmed and combed.
  16. Parents must comply with this before admission of children
  17. Do not apply chemicals
  18. All students must use the school’s uniform of prescribed colours
  19. Footwear must be flat, black/brown sandals/shoe or sneakers
  20. Use white socks
  21. Use of school cloth on last Friday of every month must be adhere
  22. Put all rubbish (toffee wrappers, papers, etc.) in the dustbin/litter box.
  23. Tidy up the classroom at the close of the day.
  24. Leave toilets and other places of convenience in acceptable condition after use.
  25. No opposite s€x should visit the washroom of the other
  26. Never absent yourself from school class unless with permission.
  27. Nobody should leave the school compound during school hours.
  28. Every student must be in school latest by 7:30 am
  29. Greet all staff members (both teaching and non-teaching) and elders when at school.
  30. Stand aside to pave way for teachers, parents and elders on the staircase
  31. Be appreciative (say thank you)
  32. Help teachers/ elders with luggage
  33. No bullying.
  34. No use of mobile phones and radios
  35. No teasing, verbal assault.
  36. No shouting.
  37. Do not eat in class while class is in session
  38. Silence hour must be observed by all.
  39. Do not write on walls
  40. No movement from one class to the other during classes except a class prefect who is sent
  41. Be quiet, attentive and do not interrupt teacher.
  42. Do not visit water fountain during class
