(b) Reasons Why Rivers in West African Are not Navigable
1. Shallowness in depth of water: Mist of the rivers in West Africa are too shallow rendering them unfriendly for water transportation with boats. Others also dry quickly in dry reason.
2. Presence of Stamps: Some rivers also have big trees blocking the use of boats on them.
3. Winding course: Most rivers have winding courses. For example, Volta lake and River Niger.
4. Waterfalls and rapids : Most of the rivers in West Africa has their mouth as waterfalls .a king it inaccessible for travelling.

    (ii) A sketch is a roughly drawn map usually drawn not to scale while a

    (b) Scale: 1 cm to 20km. That is if the land is 200km on the ground, it should
    be 1cm on paper.
    Length of plot = 200km
    Length on the Paper = 120km÷ 20km × 1cm
    = 10 × 1 cm
    = 10cm long
    Width of plot = 120km
    Width of plot of paper = 120km÷20km×1cm
    = 6 × 1m
    Width = 6cm
