St.Thomas Aquinas Boys “Whips” Wa Technical Institute In A Fierce Sharks Quiz Contest.

The long-awaited Sharks Quiz competition is back on our screens. The quiz started with the kick-off round. St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School clashed with Wa Technical Institute at the kick-off stage of the competition. The students from Wa Technical Institute gave the “Old Toms” a tough competition however the “Old Toms” won with a landslide victory.

At the end of the first round, St. Thomas Aquinas led with a slight 1o-mark margin, (Aquinas scored 60 points and Wa Technical Institute scored 50 points). The boys were separated from the men in the second round. At the end of the second round, St. Thomas Aquinas got an additional 40 points whiles Wa Technical Institute surprisingly scored -25 (negative 25) points. The negative points that Wa Technical Institutes accrued were as a result of their inability to provide the right answer in this round where each wrong answer attracts a penalty or deduction of 5 points.

After the third round, which is the STEM round, both schools, St. Thomas Aquinas and Wa Technical Institute, ended up scoring negative points; -15 and -5 points respectively. At the end of the last round, St. Thomas Aquinas gained an additional 30 points while their counterparts, Wa Technical Institute scored 0 points.

The final results of the contests were as follows;

St. Thomas Aquinas SHS: 115

Wa Technical Institutes: 20

Thus, St. Thomas Aquinas has secured a spot in the next stage of the competition.

St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School is a Ghanaian public day senior high school for boys in the Osu, district of Accra in the Greater Accra Region. The school is currently located in Cantonments, a suburb of Accra. It was established to provide education for boys of the Accra Archdiocese of the Catholic Church whose parents could not afford the then cost of sending their male children to boarding schools. It was established in 1952.

Aquinas has ties with its sister school, Accra Girls Senior High School, with a strong bond of students’ association, which is aimed at sharing entertainment, social activities, and educational exchange, called STAAGA (St. Thomas Aquinas Accra Girls Association).
