Stop religious bigotry: PRESEC Muslims to Methodist
Muslim students in Presbyterian Church owned Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) have indicated their frustration because of the stands on the Methodist Church of Ghana for preventing Muslim students in Wesley Girls’ to join Ramadan fasting.
They have condemned the posture of the church and believe the decision not to allow Muslim students to fast amounted to religious bigotry.
The students in Presec have indicated that, although the school is owned by the Presbyterian Church, Muslim students are permitted to pray five times a day. They never miss the Jumma prayers every Friday on campus either.
The blog post sighted by Ghanaeducation.org read:
“In Presec We pray our five daily prayers in our mosque We go for Jumma prayers every Friday Muslims have their own service during Christian service,” Muslim students in the Boy’s school stated in the post.
The students disclosed in the post that, before the commencement of Ramadan, they appealed to the management of Pressec to reserve 10 dining tables for Muslim students observing the Holy Month Fast. The school went ahead to offer them two more tabled than requested.
