Have you seen the 2025 BECE Timetable? Do you want to download the projected timetable?

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the 2025 BECE examiantion date for the year for school candidates to be registered from both public and private basic schools.

What is the 2025 BECE examination date?

According to the GES, the examination will be administered by the West African Examination Council (WAEC) from Monday, June 9, to Monday, June 16, 2025.

It is important to put on record that the 2025 BECE will be the second to be administered by WAEC based on the new Common Core Curriculum.

The examination will take six active exam days to complete in a space of 8 days. While WAEC is yet to release the 2025 BECE timetable, parents, schools, and teachers can make good use of the unofficial projected 2025 BECE timetable here.

You can download the 2025 BECE timetable (projected), which is based on the 2024 BECE timetable used by WAEC in administering the 2024 exam.

We project that English Language and Religious and Moral Education will be administered on 9th June, 2025.

On 10th June, we project that Integrated Science and Computing will be administered.

The third day of the exam, Wednesday, 11th June, will likely have Social Studies and Creative Arts and Design being administered by WAEC.

These and all the other subjects have been captured in the downloadable projected schedule.

Kindly note that WAEC will be releasing the official examination tiemtable at the right time. What we have released is our own internal projection just as we peojected the examination date at least two months before GES confirmed it on 24th January, 2025.

What are the 2025 BECE registration phases?

In a related development, the 2025 BECE registration details are yet to be released by the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

The examination registration is expected to be divided into three phases. These will include Phase 1 (Biodata and Subject registration).

In phase 2, schools will be required to forward the continuous assessment of learners to WAEC through their respective district and metro examination offices.

The final stage (Phase 3) will be the school selection phase, which is often carried out after the examination itself.

Parents whose wards are in basic 9 and will be candidates must ensure they help their children, the schools they attend and teachers to prepare candidates for the upcoming examination.

Number of subjects to be administered by WAEC

In all, 10 subjects will be administered by WAEC; however, students can take a minimum of 8 subjects and a maximum of 9 subjects. Students who write Arabic will be the last batch of candidates to complete their examination when it ends on 16th June.

2025 BECE school selection to be done before the exam

2025 BECE school selection 2024 BECE Confirmed Marking Dates AND SCHOOL SELECTION FORM

There has been a change in the BECE registration procedure per  since the 2025 BECE school selection pahse will be done before the exam per the release from the Ghana Education Service.

While in the recent past, BECE candidates have selected schools after writing the examination, effective 2025, all parents will assist their candidates in selecting their schools ahead of the examination.

The 2025 BECE has been scheduled to be held from 9th June to 16th June, 2025; however, the school selection phase, which is the final section of the registration, will start on 5th May and end on 31st May, 2025.

This means that parents and students must be guided in their school selection. School selections must be made based on the academic strength of the candidate and not mere tastes and preferences of learners and their parents.

Prior to 2017, BECE candidates were selecting schools before the examination. This change is only a reversal of the process to the orgianl way of carrying out the BECE registration.

If the school’s selection is not done objectively, there is a high chance many over-exuberant parents and students will end up being disappionted.

Parents are cautioned to be extra careful in choosing schools they know too well their wards cannot attain given their academics. In the past, more than 5,000 students have chosen schools only for the school to place about 500 students out of the applications.

Since the school placement is going to be based on the performance of candidates in the BECE and the competition other students who chose the same school pose, it is important that schools and teachers explain to candidates and parents how the wrong choices will affect their chances of being placed.

Candidates who will be targeting overly prescribed schools in May 2025 must continue to study hard and make good grades throughout their mock examination as well as their final BECE to stand better chances of getting placed in Category A and B schools.

Parents should not force their selection on students and they must also seek advice from the teachers in making this critical irreversible choice before the final school selections are sent to WAEC by the end of May, 2025.

READ: See the 2025 BECE registration date, payment procedures and caution

The reintroduction of the BECE school selection before the exam means the process will be faster and completed at least 9 days before the examination. The schools candidates select must play a key motivating factor in their performance. This time students will not have the chance to use the exam as a factor to determine which schools they will choose; instead, the schools they choose must challenge them to work hard during the exam if they are to be placed in them.

2025 BECE Integrated Science Practical and Section B Questions
As the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) approaches, students across Ghana are intensifying their preparation, particularly in the Integrated Science subject. This subject, critical for assessing a student’s grasp of core scientific concepts, requires both theoretical knowledge and practical application. To aid in this preparation, we present “Trial Test 2” for Integrated Science, designed to mirror the actual examination’s structure and content. This trial test comprises a selection of questions that have been meticulously curated to cover essential topics from the curriculum, giving students an insight into the types of scenarios and problem-solving they might encounter on exam day.

The questions in this trial test span various aspects of Integrated Science, including physics, chemistry, biology, and agriculture. They are intended to challenge students’ understanding while encouraging critical thinking and the application of scientific principles. Each question includes a detailed answer based on the latest educational guidelines, ensuring that students not only learn the correct responses but also understand the underlying science. This practice is invaluable, as it not only helps in mastering the content but also in familiarising oneself with the exam’s format, time management, and the level of detail expected in answers. The new common core curriculum requires that learners should be able to brainstorm and apply their knowledge in solving or suggesting solutions to societal problems.

Let us now look at the two questions and the suggested solution for revision purposes under the 2025 BECE RME Questions and Answers (Trial Test 6)

Question: i. You are a cultural educator preparing a presentation on traditional ceremonies for a diverse audience. Highlight four key reasons why ceremonial practices and rituals that mark the transition from childhood to adulthood are important in the communities that observe them. (8 marks)

[a] They help to preserve the culture of the people. Ceremonial practices uphold and preserve cultural traditions, ensuring their continuity for future generations.

[b]It leads to the social integration of the new young adult. These rituals foster a sense of belonging and identity within the community, bringing individuals together to celebrate shared values and experiences.

[c] It serves as a passage to adulthood. Ceremonies marking the transition from childhood to adulthood provide guidance and support for young individuals as they navigate their new roles and responsibilities.

[d] It has a spiritual significance. Many ceremonies have spiritual or religious significance, connecting participants to their beliefs and heritage.

[e] It leads to community bonding. Ceremonial events serve as occasions for community members to come together, strengthen social bonds, and support one another through rites of passage.

2 marks each × any 4 = 8 marks

Question: ii. Mr. Musa is brainstorming a short story set in a small town. Explain four sneaky (smart but illegal) methods one of the characters uses to acquire money dishonestly, stirring up trouble in the community. (12 marks)

[a] Fraud is a smart but illegal method of making money. It is the act of deceiving others through false representation to obtain money or valuables. This can include schemes such as identity theft, investment scams, or insurance fraud.

[b]The embezzlement of funds meant for society or companies. Misappropriating funds entrusted to one’s care for personal use, often in a professional setting. This typically involves someone in a position of trust, such as an employee or manager, diverting company funds for their own benefit.

[c] Counterfeiting of money, goods, and documents to your advantage. Producing fake currency, goods, or documents with the intention of deceiving others for financial gain. Counterfeiters replicate genuine items or currency to sell them as authentic, often at a lower cost, thus defrauding consumers and legitimate businesses.

[d] Engaging in all kinds of Ponzi schemes, such as MenzGold (NAM 1): A fraudulent investment scheme where returns are paid to earlier investors using funds from new investors, rather than from profits generated by the investment. As the scheme grows, it becomes unsustainable, leading to financial losses for the majority of participants when it inevitably collapses.

[e] The extortion of money from people. Coercing or threatening individuals or businesses to obtain money, property, or services. Extortionists may use intimidation, blackmail, or violence to extract payments or concessions from their victims, often exploiting fear or vulnerability for financial gain.

Let us take a look at the 2025 BECE RME Questions and Answers (Trial Test 1)

Question

a. As a group leader or the eldest of your siblings or peers, show the ways you would apply the moral lessons you have learnt from the exemplary lives of the religious leaders to lead. (8 marks)

Let us look at the suggested solution to the question above in this 2025 BECE RME Questions and Answers (Trial Test 1).

The ways I would apply the moral lessons learnt from the exemplary lives of the religious leaders are as follows:
i. I would emphasise compassion and empathy in all our interactions, mirroring the kindness exemplified by religious leaders.
ii. I would uphold integrity and honesty, ensuring that our actions align with our values and that we build trust within our group.
iii. By practicing humility and selflessness, I would encourage everyone to prioritise the collective good over individual interests.
iv. I would foster a spirit of service, motivating us to support and uplift one another and our broader community.
v. I would promote forgiveness and reconciliation, creating an environment where we can resolve conflicts peacefully and maintain strong, respectful relationships.

2 marks each × any 4 = 8 marks

Important explanation and advice for students.

From the above-suggested answers, you will notice the use of the pronoun “I” as part of the answers because the examiner expects you to state what you will be doing. Students who write out the same answers but use “They, We” will likely lose some marks.

Again, you will notice that the answers are self-explanatory answers. If you provide answers that do not explain what you want to put across as answers, or you write one-word, short sentences that only list the points, you will end up scoring very low marks.

b. Jesus said to his disciples, “And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.” (Luke 10:5 NKJV). Discuss four reasons Jesus advised them first to greet. (12 marks)

[i] Jesus advised them to first greet to help promote peace. Jesus emphasized the importance of peace as a foundational value in all interactions. By greeting with “Peace be to this house,” the disciples set a tone of goodwill and harmony, fostering a peaceful environment essential for meaningful engagement and ministry.

[ii] There are to greet because it shows cultural and social etiquette. In the cultural context of the time, offering a greeting upon entering a house was a sign of respect and politeness. [iii] Greeting opens up one’s spiritual blessing for the household. The greeting of peace was also a way to bestow a spiritual blessing upon the household. This act reflects the disciples’ role as bearers of God’s peace and presence, signalling that their mission was not just social but deeply spiritual.

[iv] It helps to establish their intentions for the visit. By greeting the household with peace, the disciples made their intentions clear from the outset. This greeting demonstrated that their visit was benevolent, and focused on sharing the message of the Kingdom of God rather than any self-serving purpose.

[v]   It also serves as an invitation to receptivity. Offering peace first invited the household to be open and receptive. It created an atmosphere of trust and openness, essential for the disciples’ message to be received effectively. If the household responded positively, it indicated their readiness to hear and accept the disciples’ teachings.
