i. Explain how digestion occurs in the animal above. ( 4 marks)
In goats, digestion begins with food entering the rumen for fermentation, then moving to the reticulum where cud is formed and re-chewed. Next, the food goes to the omasum for water and nutrient absorption, followed by the abomasum for digestion with stomach acids and enzymes. Finally, nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine, and water is absorbed in the large intestine before waste is expelled.
