Kennedy Agyapong, Sylvester Tetteh reconcile after heated clash in Parliament

Kennedy Agyapong and Sylvester Tetteh have reconciled following a heated confrontation in Parliament on Tuesday, 13th February, 2024.

After a close door meeting with leadership, the two New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislators have smoked peace pipe.

Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong and Sly Tetteh were involved in a heated argument in Parliament on Tuesday. Eyewitnesses described a tense atmosphere as Sly Tetteh approached Agyapong with what seemed to be an attempt at cordiality, only to be met with unexpected hostility from the Assin Central MP. According to Graphic Online’s Parliamentary reporter, Daniel Kenu, who was present during the incident, Agyapong appeared visibly agitated without any apparent provocation.

Deputy Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, intervened swiftly to defuse the escalating tension by removing Tetteh from the chamber, preventing a potential physical altercation. Despite the discreet nature of the exchange, it drew the attention of both journalists and observers in the public gallery.

Further details emerged suggesting that Tetteh allegedly owed Agyapong money, and when confronted about the debt, Tetteh purportedly dismissed Agyapong’s request, prompting a heated reaction from the Assin Central MP.

The incident highlights the complexities and personal dynamics often at play within political circles, shedding light on the sometimes contentious relationships among parliamentarians. While the exact nature of the loan and the circumstances surrounding it remain unclear, the public display of discord underscores the need for professionalism and decorum within the legislative body.

As the saga unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability among elected officials, as well as the potential consequences of unresolved personal disputes spilling into the public domain. Parliamentarians, entrusted with representing the interests of their constituents, are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct, both within the chamber and beyond.

The fallout from this altercation is likely to reverberate within political circles, prompting speculation and commentary on the implications for both Agyapong and Tetteh, as well as their respective constituencies. As the nation watches closely, the resolution of this conflict will undoubtedly be closely scrutinized, with implications for the broader political landscape.

Kennedy Agyapong Explains Why Afenyo Markin Was Not Given Ministerial Appointment

Kennedy Agyapong Explains Why Afenyo Markin Was Not Given Ministerial Appointment

NPP Flagbearer hopeful, who doubles as the MP for Assin Central constituency, Honorable Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed why Afenyo Markin, the MP for Effutu, was not given ministerial appointment under Akufo Addo’s government.

In a recent live radio interview on Kastle FM in Cape Coast, Kennedy Agyapong shared that Afenyo-Markin’s involvement in an agriculture bank issue led to the president rejecting him for the position, which was then awarded to Mavis Hawa Koomson. According to Kennedy Agyapong, the president didn’t even wanted to see the face of Afenyo Markin due to his alleged involvement in some crises at Agriculture Bank.

“We advocated for Alex Markin to be a minister, but his issue with an agriculture bank led to the president declining his appointment. Consequently, the position went to Hawa Koomson,” Agyapong explained.

Kennedy Agyapong underlined his influence in supporting Koomson’s initiatives, asserting that her current role as the Minister for Fisheries was facilitated by his assistance. He claimed that without his support, Koomson wouldn’t have gained any political standing as she lacked the necessary attention.

“Considering she was primarily based in the central region, how could Koomson attain such a position? I engineered specific initiatives for her. Anyone eyeing a ministerial role needs my endorsement,” he stated.

He further questioned, “Could Hawa Koomson run campaigns in the Central Region without my backing? Who would heed her?”

The New Patriotic Party is currently preparing to nominate its official flagbearer for the 2024 presidential elections scheduled for December 2024.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

I Will Bring Alan Kyeremanten Back To The NPP If Elected As Flagbearer - Kennedy Agyapong

NPP Flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, has promised that he will bring Alan Kyeremanten back to the NPP if elected as the flagbearer of the party on November 4.

Speaking to delegates in Cape Coast on Saturday, 28th October, 2023, Kennedy Agyapong stated that the NPP needs the support of Alan Kyeremanten to win in 2024. He believes that he is in the best position to convince Alan Kyeremanten to join the NPP again.

Alan Kyeremanten resigned from the New Patriotic Party while addressing the media at Movenpick Hotel in September, 2023. He announced that he will be contesting the 2024 General Elections as an Independent Candidate

Before his resignation, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen withdrew from the Flagbearership Race of the New Patriotic Party. According to many, it was a sign of his resignation from the NPP.

“In light of the foregoing, I wish to confirm that I am honourably withdrawing from the process that will lead to the Presidential Primaries to be held on the 4th of November 2023. In the next upcoming weeks, I will provide an indication of the role that I will play in politics in Ghana, after consultations with my family and other well-wishers, various stakeholders, and interest groups,” he added.

Mr. Kyerematen who placed third in the party’s August 26 special delegates conference said he opted out of the race following the intimidation of agents.

He also said the race seems to be deliberately skewed to favour one of the candidates.

“The level of intimidation of varying intensity, directly and indirectly, unleashed on a significant number of Delegates at various Voting Centers across the sixteen regions, is unprecedented in the history of our Party.”

Alan Kyeremanten’s run as an Independent Candidate is going to make it difficult to the NPP in the Ashanti region which remains its world bank in terms of votes.

“In addition, the fact that my Polling Agent in the North East region has suffered severe damage to his eyesight, arising from his bold and courageous effort to ensure compliance with the very rules and regulations for the conduct of the elections as approved by the Presidential Elections Committee, will forever remain a dark spot in the history of internal elections within the Party.” Alan said.

Below is his full statement on Facebook

“I just came across an article on Citinewsroom.com and I nearly fell off my seat. Did Kennedy Agyapong really say, “If you vote me today or elect me as President of Ghana, I will use the five regions of the north, Afram and Accra plains to feed the whole of Africa”?

Politicians never cease to amaze. We sure are gullible and small-minded, with an extremely short memory.

Dear Kennedy, you call hardworking and daring Ghanaians who venture into agriculture F00LS and turn round to now say Ghana will feed Africa under your Presidency? How do you wish to achieve that? By nurturing more f00ls?

You have been a Parliamentarian and an extremely influential politician since 2001. How did you use that influence and voice to reshape policy and the Agric space to ensure Agric works for the Ghanaian? I am just reminded: you used your voice to call those who dared to help feed the Mother Ghana you wish to lead F00ls!

I am happy to note that Volta region is not part of your ‘azaa’ story. I am shocked you added Accra to your plans. Did you not plan to have us the Ewe and Ga people lynched? Oh, maybe it is to make our lands available for your plans. I am Ewe and Ga. M’awu, I die finish.

I have had my challenges in agric, and I have learnt many lessons. One thing I am certain about is the fact that agric is winnable but only with the right policies, many of which you could have influenced to make agric win. But your wisdom was only limited to discouraging and insulting and now you wish to lead who?

You called us f00ls but today, when you wish to be President, you say agric is the way, and we must be confident to venture into it. Look hard and all around you. There are only two f00ls here – you and you. I Pray those whose gullibility you feast on, wake up.

PS: Stop calling yourself some self-made business tycoon. Your wealth is rooted in public money and political patronage. The many fat contracts awarded you directly and indirectly from the times of Kufour to date for little gratitude and in response to your bullying and threats, made the you we see today. You are and would have been nothing but for the same NPP you wish to showdown with. Show gratitude to those who have privileged you. If you wish to know who a true tycoon is, look for Kwabena Adjei (Kasapreko), Edward Effah (Fidelity), Ibrahim Mahama (Engineers & Planners), Dr. Ofori Sarpong (Special Ice), Togbe Afede, Tony Oteng Gyasi (Tropical Cable), Kofi Abban (RigWorld), Kwame Bamfo (Sikkens), John Osei-Wusu (JP), Dan Okudzeto (Allied Oil), Andrew Takyi-Appiah (Zeepay), etc.

Those who know, know. Massa, Gyae Ruff!

NB: I beg start showing up in court and stop running away from my case. Tell your lawyer to stop the delay tactics for as my Ga people will say, ‘kɛ okɛ oyaa Korle, oba ya’ (whether you like it or not, you will go into the Korle).

How Kennedy Agyapong Plans To Develop The Central Region

NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong, who doubles as the MP for Assin Central constituency, has revealed how he plans to develop the central region of Ghana when elected as the president of Ghana.

In his recent interview on Castle FM in Cape Coast, Kennedy Agyapong, expressed his unwavering commitment to usher an industrial revolution into Ghana’s Central Region if given the opportunity in the 2024 elections.

Agyapong plans to enhance tourist safety, fortifying Kakum Forest with an electric fence and providing resources for animal inhabitants. He also envisions fixing roads and introducing protective measures for tourists against potential animal encounters.

Emphasizing his business acumen, Agyapong proposed leveraging the region’s resources, such as fertile lands and palm plantations, to create wealth and generate employment opportunities for the youth. His vision encompasses not leaving out the fisher folks and emphasizes the necessity for improved highways to facilitate regional progress.

Agyapong urged delegates to choose wisely in the upcoming NPP Presidential Elections, highlighting his track record of contributions to the region and the party’s successes in elections, vowing to lead an industrial transformation in the Central Region if entrusted with the responsibility.

“Why would tourists drive 2-3 hours back to Accra after visiting the famous Kakum Forest for a brief moment? This is because we don’t do the things that will attract these tourists to stay when they come to the region” he said.

“I will also make sure the road leading to the tourist sites is fixed and provide armoured trucks to transport tourists in the forest without any attack from the animals.

“Do you know the number of people that will get jobs? Our lands are very fertile and we don’t have factories in the region. We are even underutilizing the palm plantation we have in the region because more can be derived from the palm we produce,” he continued.

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong will contest for the flagbearership slot of the NPP along with three other contenders including Vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
