MTN Refunds Data Bundle To Customers After Internet Issues

MTN Refunds Data Bundle To Customers After Internet Issues

MTN Ghana officially refunds all data bundles that expired during the internet issues caused by the undersea cable cut.

MTN Ghana also announced that it has secured additional internet capacity and is actively working on expanding its data services in Ghana. The company assures its customers that it is continuously adding more capacities through collaborations with both local and international partners, including other MTN subsidiaries. This move aims to ensure maximum access to data services for Ghanaians.

The announcement comes in the wake of recent internet disruptions experienced by MTN and other telecom companies due to multiple undersea fiber optic cable cuts. Despite these challenges, MTN Ghana emphasizes that it is committed to restoring services and addressing ongoing disruptions in internet connections.

In response to rumors circulating on social media platforms alleging that the internet outages were caused by unsettled debts, MTN Ghana has debunked such claims, stating that they are false and should be disregarded.

MTN Ghana provides further insight into the recent disruptions, explaining that on March 12, 2024, it lost internet capacity provided by the WACS subsea cable but swiftly switched to ACE to maintain service. However, on March 14, 2024, the company experienced a further loss of internet connectivity from its remaining providers SAT3 and ACE due to cuts in their undersea cables. This led to disruptions in data services on both mobile and fixed networks.

To mitigate the impact of these disruptions, MTN Ghana has secured new internet capacity and is progressively adding more capacities through various means, including local caching solutions. These efforts aim to enable access to popular content services such as YouTube, Facebook, and Netflix.

MTN Ghana expresses gratitude for the patience and understanding of its customers during this period and assures them that all customers will be refunded accordingly for any inconvenience caused. In conclusion, the company reiterates that the rumors regarding disconnection due to debts are false and urges the public to disregard them.
