Teacher Unions and FWSC Meet Over New Conditions of Service

Teacher Unions Call Off Strike, Get 15% COLA: This is the latest update on the ongoing industrial action.

Based on the outcome of the 14th July Emergency Meeting called by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission, the Teacher Unions have called off their 10 of days COLA strike after Organized Labour and the government reached a 15% COLA agreement.

The four pre-tertiary education unions (GNAT, NAGRAT, CCT-GH, and TEWU) who withdrew their services on Monday, July 4  have now rescinded their decision and have called on all members to return to work effective 14th July 2022.

They called off their strike action after the government agreed to a 15 per cent cost of living allowance (COLA) with Organized Labour.

The teacher unions through unity of purpose declared the strike after the government failed to respond to their needs at the end of June.

Per the agreement reached between organized labour and the government, the 15% agreed COLA will be based on the basic salary of all public sector workers.
