Teachers Disappointed as 2024 GES Postings Face Scam and Corruption Allegations
Teachers are disappointed as 2024 GES postings face scam and corruption allegations. Did the GES post teachers before opening the portal for public-wide recruitment?
Teachers have expressed profound disappointment with the Ghana Education Service (GES) following the announcement of its latest teacher postings, with many labeling the process a scam. The announcement initially brought excitement among applicants, but reactions on social media and comments on the GES’s official Facebook page have revealed widespread dissatisfaction. Numerous teachers claim they were not posted despite applying.
Eric Damalie Agbedor, a top fan of the GES on Facebook, stated that he interacted with about 100 applicants, none of whom were selected. This has led to serious concerns about the transparency and fairness of the recruitment process. According to Eric, the situation has left many questioning whether positions are being allocated fairly or influenced by insider connections. “The recruitment process appears to be a blatant sham. Many graduates I know applied but were not selected. Are positions being distributed arbitrarily, favoring insiders? This government seems to be eroding public trust,” he lamented.
Another teacher, Afia Owusu, responded to Eric’s comments, alleging that appointments may have been made even before the application portal opened. “I heard the appointment was given even before the module was opened, and it’s only for STEM courses,” she stated.
The disappointment is widespread, as highlighted by a message from Nana Adwoa Gyamfua Amoh, who captured the collective frustration: “I feel like crying. Ghana Education Service, you make me feel so sad.”

Some commenters went further, blaming political bias and corruption for the recruitment failures. Alhassan A. Square accused the ruling NPP government of favoritism, stating, “This government will go down as the most useless government Ghana ever had. If you’re not affiliated with the NPP or don’t have money to pay for appointments, you can’t get jobs in the public sector.”
Abdallah Yakubu echoed these sentiments, revealing a conversation with a friend who was successfully posted. “A friend of mine told me, ‘If you don’t have strong protocol, you won’t get it.’ We have no protocols, but we have God. There is still hope, even if this one doesn’t work,” he said, urging others to manage their expectations to avoid heartbreak.
