Ghana Education Service (GES) issued a communique to over forty-six thousand teachers and the general public concerning the 2021 Promotion Aptitude Test. Twenty-nine thousand teachers have been moved to the next professional rank however they are to take additional steps to ensure the confirmation of their promotion.
Closing date for the submission of documents for verification
However, thousands of the teachers who passed the promotion examination have been asked to submit hard copies of their relevant documents to the Head of Human Resource Management Development (HRMD) at Ghana Education Service, Headquarters, not later than Thursday, 15th July 2021.
Documents to be submitted for substantive promotion letters to teachers
The documents to be presented include all academic certificates, all professional certificates, previous promotion letters, application printouts, and the first appointment letter.
These documents are to be verified at the District and Regional offices before finally getting to GES Headquarters.
The affected teachers are to undergo further verification before they will be issued substantive promotion letters.
This latest tactic by Ghana Education Service has left most teachers in limbo as they do not know whether to celebrate or not.

A Deputy Director in charge of Human Resource Management Development (HRMD) in one of the Districts in the Ashanti Region wrote:
“Professionals who have checked and have a feedback requesting them to submit relevant documents to Headquarters, have gone through successfully in terms of passing the Aptitude Test except for a few issues with the download of their attachments from the Promotion portal. Their documents (hard copies) are needed for verification to declare them promoted. They should not panic.”
Teachers are advised to take the necessary steps to ensure they meet all the additional documentation requirements to seal the processing of their promotion to the next rank.
