The National Teaching Council (NTC) has commenced processes to issue Teachers’ license and registration numbers to all qualified teachers in the Ghana Education Service.
Teacher license and registration date
The NTC plans to commence the registration from May 2021.
It added that qualified teachers employed prior to September 1st, 2018 should visit the NTC portal and register by close of day on 7th May 2021. This registration will cover teachers in private schools as well.
According to the NTC, the teachers described as qualified are those who were trained and certified by the various colleges of education and universities.

Teacher license and staff employed after 31st August 2018
Teachers who were employed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) from 31st August 2018 must pass the NTC licensure examination to qualify to be considered for the professional license and registration number.
Teachers who qualify but do not go through the process to get licensed and registered cannot practice as teachers in Ghana per section 64 (1) of the Education Regulatory Bodies Act, 2020, Act 1023.
All qualified teachers are therefore advised to take steps to ensure they avoid the No Registration, No license, No Practice danger.
