As you already know, the second term of the 2023/2024 academic year for basic schools began on Tuesday, 9th January 2024. Below is the week endings for the term 2.
Basic Schools Term 2 Week Endings
Week endings offer teachers a moment of relief and reflection. It’s a time to evaluate students’ progress, plan for the upcoming week, and manage administrative tasks before embarking on another week of teaching and learning.

Week 3: 26th January
Week 4: 2nd February
Week 5: 9th February
Week 6: 16th February
Week 7: 23rd February
Week 8: 1st March

Basic schools are scheduled to undergo a total of 14 weeks in term 2.

Revision Week
Revision week holds significance for both teachers and pupils. It allows teachers to reinforce key concepts, address doubts, and ensures students are well-prepared for assessments. Scheduled from 25th March to 29th March 2024, examinations follow in the subsequent week.
Term 2 Vacation Date
As per the 2023/2024 academic calendar, Basic schools in Ghana will conclude the second term on 11th April 2024. The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Eric Nkansah, assures a smooth execution of the calendar. However, Kofi Asare, the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, emphasizes the need for clarification, especially regarding the transitional calendar’s impact on Form Two students compared to Form One students under the single-track calendar.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) is the government agency responsible for the management and administration of education policies and programs in Ghana. It oversees the implementation of educational policies from the pre-tertiary to the tertiary level. The GES manages public schools, develops curricula, conducts examinations, and provides guidance and supervision to ensure quality education throughout the country. Its mandate also includes teacher training, professional development, and the promotion of equitable access to education for all Ghanaian citizens.
