The University of Ghana Opens a Laptop Production Facility to Improve Access for Students.
The University of Ghana, Legon, has awarded contracts for the construction of a laptop manufacturing facility on campus, marking a significant step toward enhancing student access to computers.
In addition to One Student, One Laptop, this program seeks to give students access to reasonably priced computers.
As part of its continuous efforts, the institution has given 309 computers to students since August 2022. Furthermore, the institution gave 500 computers to students in need with the help of private donors and businesses.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, brought attention to these advances during the School of Graduate Studies’ congregational ceremony, where 15,549 students are receiving their degrees.

Toyota Ghana is supporting the university’s engineering department with $2 million worth of engineering equipment spread over 10 years, an investment that is in line with the university’s commitment to educating students for the workforce.
To tackle the issue of student housing, the institution implemented an open randomized bed system.
This approach seeks to guarantee equity and openness in the distribution of student housing, offering all students equal chances regardless of their level of internet access.
