Tolon MP Challenges Ken Agyapong: Build a Factory in Assin Central Before Promising the North
Tolon MP Calls on Ken Agyapong to Prioritize Local Factory Initiatives: The MP for the Tolon constituency, Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, has issued a challenge to his fellow MP from the Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Agyapong. He urged Agyapong to establish a factory within his own constituency before making promises to the northern regions.
Kennedy Agyapong, a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), recently embarked on a campaign tour to the northern regions. During this tour, he acquired land in the Tolon constituency with the intent of building a factory for the local residents.
However, according to Alhaji Habib Iddrisu, Kennedy Agyapong may struggle to fulfill this promise because he has not yet constructed a factory within his own constituency. Alhaji Iddrisu expressed doubt regarding Agyapong’s intentions, suggesting that he might be using the delegates for campaign purposes without concrete plans.
During a gathering with his constituents, Alhaji Iddrisu stated, “Kennedy was here, and I was seated with you people, and he said he has acquired land from the chief for a factory to be built here in Tolon. Those of you who know Assin Central, please go there and see for yourself; there is no factory there built by Kennedy, so don’t fall for his lies.”
Alhaji Iddrisu further pointed out that none of the 175 Members of Parliament in Ghana’s legislative body follow Kennedy Agyapong during his campaign. This, in his view, reflects Agyapong’s lack of credibility as a leader. He emphasized that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the most suitable candidate to lead the NPP and secure a victory in the upcoming elections.
Addressing the delegates, Alhaji Iddrisu called upon them to vote overwhelmingly for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during the NPP primaries scheduled for November 4, 2023.
He disclosed that all MPs, CEOs, MMDCEs (Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives), party contractors, and other business figures have committed to covering the expenses of the Vice President’s campaign for the primaries. This collective effort aims to support Dr. Bawumia’s bid to lead the NPP and secure a win in the upcoming elections.
