Over the years, most students travel from afar just to attend Ghana’s premier university. Attending University of Ghana comes with some prestige and potential greatness.
University of Ghana is still releasing admission for the 2023/2024 academic year. Congratulations to all who have gained admission to Ghana’s Okponglo Harvard.
After gaining admission, the next step is to settle your fees at the respective banks stated on the admission letter and also opt for accommodation. With the information gathered, there would be randomization of beds for all freshmen.
Before one can opt for the randomization of beds, you need to pay at least 50% of your academic fees. There are about five beautiful traditional halls at the university of Ghana, Legon. In this context, we would talk about only three of them.
COMMONWEALTH HALL
The focal point of the University of Ghana, Legon, is the Commonwealth hall. I’m fact, this hall is a city on its own. This is an only-males hall on campus.
Like the rest of the halls, Commonwealth hall has its own library, chapel, arcade center, barber shop, market, printing press, amongst others. The hall has no annexed compared to that of Legon hall.
Students admitted to the hall are tagged as ‘VANDAL’. ‘VANDAL’ is an acronym for Vivacious, Affable, Neighborly, Devoted, Altruistic, and Loyal. Vandal address their fellow Vandal as V-mate and the response to that is ‘Sharp’.
Unarguably, Vandals are the voices of the student body. They have the unity, leadership traits, among others. No wonder it’s called the, ‘Romantic Vandal City’.
It would be a privilege to be in the most prestigious hall in Ghana’s premier university, Okponglo Harvard.

VOLTA HALL
Volta hall is an all-female hall on campus. They’re known for their neatness and calmness. The hall has produced numerous renowned personalities like the first female chief justice, madam Georgina Theodora Woode.
Volta hall can be located beside Commonwealth hall. Normally, the chief vandal also performs their normal rituals at the Volta hall as well. Like Commonwealth hall, Volta hall have their own pharmacy, barber shop, among others.
MENSAH SARBAH
This hall was named after the Ghanaian law man, John Mensah Sarbah. This is one of the best mixed hall in Legon campus. It is for a fact that, the hall has one traditional outfit known as ‘Okpo’
The hall has enormous services like laundry, restaurant, among others.
