Tragedy Strikes in Axim, Located in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region, As 3 Innocent Children Lose Their Lives in Heartbreaking Home Fire.
While the identities of the three children who lost their lives in the fatal fire are yet to be confirmed, they are said to be between the ages of five and ten.
Reliable sources from GhanaEducation.org confirmed the sad incident. The story was further corroborated through an interview sighted by this portal, which was granted to Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM’s Omanbapa Morning Show.
According to a resident who gave his name as Lord Listowel, a family of six was in the room when the fire started. He added that the parents of the children and their youngest child survived the devastating fire.
“Their parents and the lastborn survived, but the three other children, whose ages are between 5 and 10, were burnt beyond recognition. The survivors are currently at the Axim Government Hospital receiving treatment, but their condition is not encouraging,” Lord Listowel narrated while giving an eyewitness account of what transpired.
The father of the deceased children, Kwame Asare, who also sustained serious injuries, indicated that he was helpless when the incident occurred.

According to him, they all went to bed at about 9 PM that fateful night after supper. Around midnight, he heard a sound and thought it was thunder. Suddenly, the entire residence became dark and filled with thick smoke. Alarmed, he tried to rescue his wife and one child, sustaining severe burns in the process. Unfortunately, by the time he started shouting for help, it had become impossible to rescue the other three children.
“We all went to sleep around 9 PM just after eating. At midnight, I heard a sound that I thought was thunder, but suddenly everywhere became dark and full of smoke. I was able to rescue my wife and one child. I sustained burn wounds and was helpless, so I rushed out and started shouting for help, but it was too late. My other three children had already been burnt to death,” he recounted.

The remains of the three children have since been deposited at the Axim Government Hospital for further investigations.
