Truth Finally Out; Deputy Land and Natural Resources Minister Finally Speaks About The Man Shot Dead At Galamsey Site

The deputy minister for land and natural resources finally talks about the man who was shot and killed at the Galamsey site.
George Mireku Duker, who is the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has denied that his bodyguard was killed at an illegal mining site.
He said this after GhanaGuardian.com said on Friday, November 11, 2022, that the person who died was the deputy minister’s bodyguard.
In a statement from Saturday, November 12, 2022, the deputy minister responded to the article by saying that his state-appointed bodyguard was alive.
“I want to make it very clear that the Republic has only given me one (1) bodyguard. The Ghana Police Service officer who is my bodyguard is still alive. I don’t have a bodyguard with that name anywhere else, and I’ve never had one with that name before,” part of the release said.
The deputy minister said that the publication was misleading and that it was meant to hurt his reputation.
“The publication going around is not only false and misleading, but it also hurts my reputation, and those who don’t like me will do anything to hurt the reputation I’ve worked so hard to build.”
“In their plan to do me a lot of harm, they linked me to someone I have nothing to do with,” the statement said. “They did this to make me the target of public ridicule and hatred, lower my standing in the eyes of right-thinking people, and scandalize and embarrass me beyond measure.”
So, Mr. Mireku Duker, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuem, has asked for the story to be taken down and apologized. He also said that he might take legal action if the media outlets that ran the story don’t comply.
“I’m asking the public to ignore the article because I have nothing to do with the alleged person and I don’t have a bodyguard with that name. I ask any news organization that put out the story to take it down and apologize right away, or at least within 48 hours, or they will have to deal with the law. Since then, I’ve given it to my lawyers, so they can take the right legal steps,” the statement said.
The MP also told people to ignore the news story.
The Ghana Police Service also said that a man died at a galamsey site in Bonsa in the Western Region.
Three Chinese people have been arrested in connection with the murder, and a weapon used to kill the person has also been taken from the suspects.
