UG Cut-Off Points 2026/2027: See the Aggregate Needed for Medicine, Law, Computer Science, Nursing and More
The University of Ghana (UG) has published the cut-off points for undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year, giving prospective students a clearer picture of the grades needed for their preferred programmes.
The cut-off points currently published by the University cover programmes under the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, College of Health Sciences, College of Education, Distance Education, College of Humanities and Accra City Campus.
The figures are based on the admission cut-off points used for the previous admission cycle and, according to information shared through the University’s official WhatsApp Channel, applicants should use them as the current guide for the 2026/2027 admission process.
Importantly, the figures published on the University’s admissions website correspond with the cut-off points provided for the various programmes.
What the UG cut-off points mean for applicants
A cut-off point is not simply the minimum WASSCE aggregate needed to enter the University of Ghana.

For Ghanaian WASSCE applicants, the University requires credit passes in the four core subjects and three relevant elective subjects. The relevant aggregate is calculated from six subjects, based on the applicable programme requirements.
This means students should not look at the aggregate alone. They must also check the subject requirements attached to their chosen programme.
For example, applicants targeting Computer Science need a B3 in Elective Mathematics, while applicants seeking Information Technology need at least C4 in Core Mathematics under the published requirements.
College of Basic and Applied Sciences cut-off points
The College of Basic and Applied Sciences has some of the most competitive programmes at UG.
Biomedical Engineering has a first-choice cut-off of 6, while Computer Engineering and Computer Science have first-choice cut-offs of 7. Actuarial Science stands at 11, while Food Process Engineering is 12.
Applicants should pay particular attention to the subject requirements because some of these programmes require strong grades in Elective Mathematics, Chemistry or other relevant subjects.

College of Health Sciences cut-off points
Health Sciences programmes remain among the most competitive choices for prospective applicants.
The published first-choice cut-off for Medicine is 8, while Dental Surgery and Doctor of Pharmacy are both 10.
Nursing and Midwifery have a cut-off of 15, Medical Laboratory Sciences is 12, and Public Health is 9.

Applicants should also understand that meeting the published aggregate does not automatically guarantee admission into a Health Sciences programme.

The first-choice cut-off for Bachelor of Arts and BSc. Administration is 30, while BSc. Information Technology has a cut-off of 24.

What applicants should know before choosing a programme
The most important point for applicants is that a cut-off point should be treated as a guide, not as a promise of admission.
