Types Of Certificates UMAT Accepts for Degree Programs Admission

WASSCE/SSSCE certificate

Ordinary and Advanced Level certificate
- WASSCE or SSSCE or NECO or A-LEVEL

WASSCE/SSCE Applicants Admission Requirement At UMAT
Notably, WASSCE applicants must have a minimum cumulative score of 36 to be admitted to the University of Mines and Technology. The required minimum aggregate for SSSCE candidates is 24.
Because of this, candidates for the WASSCE must have credit passes or better (A1-C6) in six subjects, including three (3) core courses, namely:

Mathematics

Integrated Science or

Social Studies.
Furthermore, in each of your three pertinent Elective Subjects, you must receive at least credit passes (A1 through C6).
Specially Sponsored Applicants Admission Requirement for UMAT Degree Programs
this is a window of opportunity for applicants who cannot meet the competitive departmental cut-off, though they satisfy UMAT’s minimum entry of aggregate 36.
In this case, you can apply for admission, provided you have sponsorship to cover the full fees throughout your study at UMAT.
International Applicants and Ghanaians With External Education Credentials

IGSCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ Levels

Any other relevant external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE or SSSCE and the GCE (A Levels)

Baccalaureate (From any French-speaking country)

Foreign High School Diploma that is equivalent to WASSCE.
Other international students with comparable credentials are eligible to apply for admission.
Notably, the Ghana National Accreditation Authority must authenticate and accredit all candidates who have foreign certificates.
You also need to be proficient in the English language.
Additionally, if their high school diplomas and certificates are not written in English, foreign students must have them translated into English.
