UPSA lecturers inspire 2021 BECE candidates for the JHS leaving Exams

Latest BECE 2021 news update: UPSA lecturers inspire 2021 BECE candidates ahead of the BECE which starts on Monday.

Some lecturers of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Monday paid a visit to the La Nkwantanang M/A Basic 7 & 8 Schools to interact with final year Junior High School pupils ahead of their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) next week.

The visit forms part of the UPSA Community Academic Project which is geared towards inspiring underprivileged students and improving teaching and learning especially in public schools by providing educational support services and basic amenities.

During the engagement with the candidates, the lecturers, together with some invited examiners, took the pupils through key areas of study, procedures and approaches to tackling/answering examination questions as well as rules on examination malpractices.

The lecturers also interacted with individual students to boost their self-confidence and to listen their concerns and fears.

In February 2020, the UPSA adopted the two schools under its Community Academic initiative, promising to give the schools a facelift and help improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Deputy Director in charge of Public Affairs at UPSA, Ms. Ivy Heward-Mills, who led the UPSA delegation said the University was commitment to its promise, stressing that quality education at the basic level especially in public schools located within the university’s catchment area was of paramount concern to the institution.

“The lecturers that have come to interact with the students are seasoned examiners and we couldn’t have found better [human] resources to guide [the pupils] and ensure that they attain successes in the upcoming BECE.”

“For us, we wish there could be more [after this visit]. If we can get three or more of this experience [with the students] in an academic year, I think it will do them a great good and go long way to help our children,” said Mr Wesley.
