Valencia Football Club has made an earnest appeal for the postponement of its upcoming LaLiga fixture against Granada, citing the tragic aftermath of a devastating fire that ravaged parts of the city. The blaze, which engulfed two residential blocks in Valencia, claimed the lives of at least four individuals, with several others still unaccounted for, numbering up to 15.

Awaiting a decision from La Liga officials, Valencia City Fire authorities have expressed profound devastation over the incident, extending their support to local authorities and emergency services. In a solemn display of solidarity, the club’s men’s, women’s, and academy teams observed a minute of silence before their respective training sessions, while flags across their facilities were lowered to half-mast.

The harrowing event unfolded on Thursday evening, prompting a swift response from firefighting and rescue units. Despite perilous conditions exacerbated by strong winds, emergency services managed to evacuate numerous residents, employing cranes to reach those trapped on balconies. While the toll of injuries, including six firefighters and a child, rose to fifteen, fortunately, none are reported to be in critical condition.
