ECG has added another security layer to the ECG Power App which ensures that only verified MTN numbers can use the app for buying power.
In the last few weeks, users of the ECG Power App have had challenges purchasing power. Whiles some are not successful, others whose power has been out buy power yet their electricity is not restored.
This caused a lot of stress for those who depend solely on the mobile app connected to their mobile money wallets.
When customers trying to top up their prepaid via your App, they receive an error response even as of 8th July 2021
The message below is just one of the error messaged customers receive ” [System Error: Metering system is online] Meter number validation for recharge failed.
Verified MTN Momo for ECG Power App introduced
The Electricity Company of Ghana has added a security update to the ECG Power App for MTN users. Verified MTN Momo for ECG Power App will help the ECG to better monitor services and transactions on its system.
The announcement was published in a blog post on its Twitter account that their Mobile App, which enables customers to buy power online, has been updated to allow only MTN Mobile Money verified phone numbers to make payments
This new change, however, applies only to MTN Mobile Users but not customers of other networks and takes effect from July 15, 2021.
