Vice-President donates GH₵20,000 each to 2024 NSMQ finalist schools

The Vice-President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated GH₵ 20,000 each to the top three second-cycle schools that competed in the grand final of the just-ended 2024 National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ).
In a blog post sighted by GhanaEducation.org, the organizer of the NSMQ, Primetime Limited said GH₵ 10,000 was allocated to the team of contestants, GH₵ 5,000 to the school, and GH ₵ 5,000 to the teachers.
The grand finale of the 2024 National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) saw three Senior High Schools (Mfantsipim School, St Augustine’s College, and Keta Senior High Technical School) compete for the trophy and bragging right.
The final stage of the 2024 edition of the Science and Maths Quiz competition was held in Cape Coast on Wednesday, October 30, at the National Examination Centre with Professor Elsie Effah Kaufmann as the quiz mistress.
With a single-point difference from St Augustine’s College, Mfantsipim School triumphed with 47 points, reclaiming the NSMQ title after a ten-year gap while St. Augustine’s College finished as the first runner-up with 46 points, and Keta SHTS took second runner-up place with 33 points.
