Vice President, Dr. Bawumia, Dreads My Records In Economic Matters
A former Minister for Agric under the erstwhile John Mahama’s administration and newly elected General Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey has revealed that the central theme for the 2024 presidential campaign will for the most part be focused around matters of economic development.
Having been elected and confirmed as the General Secretary at their National Delegates Congress on Saturday, December 18, 2022, the frank and former Propaganda Secretary (Communications Director) in an interview with Evans Mensah, host of PM Express on the Joy News Channel said, his rich involvement with matters of economy and finance combined with his position as the national scribe of the party, places him in an uncompromising stance to uncover the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on such matters.
“The campaign for 2024 is largely going to be a campaign on the economy” adding “Assuming you have a General Secretary who actually is coming from that subject area, [as] a former Deputy Finance Minister, a man who clearly is prolific when it comes to discussing issues on the economy. A man who has gotten the facts, the figures and off course, the fire to back facts and figures, that’s of course a beautiful opportunity.”
“Our opponents like [Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia] Bawumia and so on clearly are not looking forward to having a General Secretary who can be that prolific and who can set the records straight on the economy,” he alleged.
According to him, the party is given a beautiful opportunity to “marshal all the key powers that we have both in parliament and outside of parliament to get the party in order for us to do a brilliant job and dealing with the NPP on the matter of the economy which will be the subject, the central theme of the campaign.”
The former legislator from the Ketu South Constituency, Fifi Kwetey secured 4,543 votes at the just ended National Delegates Congress to secure the position of the General Secretary which was contested by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and Peter Boamah Otokunor.
