WAEC attributes 2024 WASSCE results release delay to MoE’s ¢118m debt

The management of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has attributed the delay in releasing the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School results to financial constraints.

This comes after WAEC slated between December 9, to 15, 202,4 to release the 2024 provisional WASSCE for School Candidates’ results but facing challenges amid an outstanding balance owed to it by the Ministry of Education.

In a statement sighted by GhanaEducation.org, the Examinations Council indicated that “The results will be released as soon as the challenges being experienced with the post-examination activities are resolved.”

The challenges confronting the post-examination activities it said include the breakdown of scanners used for scanning the West African Senior School Certificate Examination objective test cards of students who sat for the examination.

“The Council is awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GHC118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education to enable the scanning process and other post-examination processes to continue smoothly,” it stated.
