In this post, we share with readers the WAEC timetable for 2024 BECE (Projected Timetable). This year’s BECE starts on Monday, July 8th, 2024, and ends on Friday, July 12, 2024, across the country. All students in their final year at the junior high school level will sit for the examination along with their colleagues who sat any of the previous BECE but failed one or more subjects.
What is the probable WAEC timetable for the 2024 BECE?
While WAEC has yet to officially release the 2024 timetable, let us look at the likely examination timetable for candidates. This timetable is for school candidates from public and private schools.
Monday, July 8, 2024: English Language and Religious and Moral Education.
Tuesday, July 9, 2024: Integrated Science and Ghanaian Language
Wednesday, July 10, 2024: Social Studies and Career Technology
Thursday, July 11, 2024: Mathematics and Computing
Friday, July 12, 2024: French Language and Creative Arts and Design.
The above timetable means candidates will write a maximum of 10 subjects.
The BECE timetable for private candidates (old curriculum)
Monday, July 8, 2024: English Language and Religious and Moral Education
Tuesday, July 9, 2024: Integrated Science and Ghanaian Language
Wednesday, July 10, 2024: Social Studies and Basic Design and Technology
Thursday, July 11, 2024: Mathematics and Information Communication Technology

According to WAEC, all students who took any of the previous BECEs will have a set of questions from each subject based on the old curriculum, while those who were introduced to the new curriculum in 2019 will be examined using the new curriculum.
WAEC is expected to provide extra time for candidates with visual and hearing impairments. Each year, candidates with visual and hearing impairments are to be allowed an additional 50% of the time allotted to other candidates.
Teachers and students are advised to make good use of the latest WAEC BECE chief examiner’s report on all subjects to help candidates work on their shortfalls ahead of the July 2024 examination to be administered by WAEC.

Teachers preparing BECE candidates must be motivated, monitored, and guided to teach and review with these students. Misguided teachers and those dedicated to their work can destroy the best students in any given school and negatively impact the performance of the candidates.
Teachers and schools must dedicate themselves to preparing every student for the BECE.
In a related development, when basic school graduates enroll in SHS1, they will be considered Basic 9 graduates starting in 2024. They continue to study the basic school curriculum, thus the curriculum for basic 10. They will study this curriculum for the entire duration of SHS1.
