WAEC to administer two sets of 2024 BECE questions in July

WAEC will, from July 8th to 12th, 2024, administer two different sets of 2024 BECE questions to candidates who will be exiting junior high school this year.

In the last two years, WAEC has administered the same set of BECE questions for both school and private BECE candidates.

Why will WAEC to administer two sets of 2024 BECE questions in July 2024?

However, following the change in curriculum to the new common core curriculum, WAEC will not be able to print and administer one set of questions for 2024 BECE candidates writing the examination from public and private schools and those who failed the BECE in 2023 or earlier.

To ensure a fair playing field at this year’s examination. We will administer special questions based on the old curriculum to all candidates who failed the 2023 BECE or an earlier one and wish to retake the BECE examination.

All school candidates (public and private) who were introduced to the new curriculum in 2019 in BASIC 7 through BASIC 9 this year will be accessed using the new curriculum.

The above means that WAEC will be releasing two different examination timetables for the 2024 BECE. That of the Private BECE candidates will follow the patten of the old timetable and will reflect the old subjects whiles that of the candidates writing the first BECE based on the common core curriculum will reflect the names of the new subjects.
