WAEC yet to pay 2022 BECE Examiners
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) is yet to pay 2022 BECE Examiners for their services. The temporal staff who were involved in marking the just released results do not know the exact day the reward for their services will be paid to them.
In the 2021 examination year, it took nearly a year and complaints from examiners and concerns were raised by the minority in parliament over the government’s failure to pay for the 2020 and 2021 examination fees owed to WAEC before the examiners were paid.
The educators who sacrificed their time and effort to ensure the scripts are marked are looking forward to the immediate payment of the earnings by WAEC.
The government must also be proactive by ensuring that, it settles the cost of the 2022 BECE and WASSCE for public schools. This way, WAEC will be in a better position to take care of its financial obligations towards examiners as and when they fall due.
In a related development, the 2023 BECE school placement for 2022 BECE graduates is expected to be released by Mid-February 2023. The disclosure was made by the PRO of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Kwarteng.
