Want To Fail The 2025 BECE Social Studies? Just Don’t Do These Five Things or DO THEM TO PASS
#1. Avoid writing short answers unless the question demands it.
Unless a question specifically asks you to name or list one or two items, never write an answer in social studies that is less than four words. Doing this will cost you marks.
For example:
- Question: Name or list five festivals in Ghana.
- Answer: Homowo, Aboakyir, Odwira, Hogbetsotso, and Bakatue.
This type of question doesn’t require sentences, just the names of festivals. However, if a question asks you to explain, you must do so briefly but clearly. If you want to fail, ignore this advice.
#2. Do not give incomplete explanations.
When explaining, use the exact terms required based on the topic. For instance:
- Question: (i) What is adolescent reproductive health?
(ii) Give advantages of staying chaste.
If you want to fail, avoid answering fully and skip important keywords.
#3. Include key terms in definitions and explanations.
For example, if asked to define “Adolescent reproductive health,” an answer like this is ideal:
“Adolescent reproductive health is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity, in all matters relating to the reproductive system of people between the ages of 10 and 19.”
Key terms like “complete physical, mental, and social well-being” and “relating to the reproductive system” are crucial for full marks. Missing these terms will reduce your score. If you want to fail, neglect this strategy.
#4. Take the objective test seriously.
A good score in the Social Studies objective test, like in other subjects, increases your chances of doing well. Aim for at least 30/40. Learn strategies for choosing the correct answers in an objective test.
