2025 WASSCE scripts marking completed, results processing ongoing – WAEC
Marking of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for School scripts has been completed, the Head of Public Affairs at the West African Examinations Council, John Kapi, has said.
Speaking on JoyNews, the WAEC spokesperson said, “What is currently ongoing is processing of the WASSCE results,” the Public Relations Officer for the Council, John Kapi, has said.
In the interview monitored by GhanaEducation.org, he added that “We are going to have to put together the mark and the grade of the candidates appropriately to award the candidates the grades they duly deserve.”
Asked when the provisional results of the 2025 WASSCE for School results of Senior High School students will be released, the spokesperson for the Examinations Council said tentatively early December 2025.
“We will probably look at a couple of weeks as I speak, my colleagues are in their meetings putting things together, so within this week and next week, I believe they should be able to conclude the issues and then have the results released,” he stated.
This year, a total of 461,640 candidates, made up of 207,381 males and 254,259 females from 1,021 second-cycle schools, sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School.
The 2025 WASSCE for School candidature represents a 0.22% increase over the 2024 entry figure of 460,611. The Ghana version of the International examination took place at 703 centres across the country.
The 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, which commenced on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, with the Visual Art Project work and continued with the written papers on Monday, August 18, 2025, ended on Friday, September 19, 2025.
Ahead of the 2025 WASSCE for School, the Ghana Education Service (GES) disbursed GH¢15,849,920 across the country to cover the costs of practical examinations for all WASSCE candidates.
Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the GES, indicated the funds are to ensure that all schools are adequately equipped with materials and resources necessary for the practical components of the examination.
“The government remains committed to easing the financial burden on parents and guardians, while enabling students to fully focus on their academic performance,” the GES stated in a statement.
In a related development, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) says the claim in a purported statement that the 2025 WASSCE results of over 34,000 candidates have been withheld is untrue.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Examinations Council has therefore urged the public particularly students to disregard any such statement about the WASSCE for School results.
According to Mr John Kapi, his outfit in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) at the appropriate time will officially communicate the release of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results to the public
