Who Invented Hip Hop?
Speaking about the founder of hip hop music, well it is difficult to just select one person as the sole founder of this genre. However, much credit is given to Kool Herc, a Jamaican immigrant who was the first major hip-hop disc jockey.
Clive Campbell was born on 16th April 1955. He is better known by his stage name DJ Kool Herc. He is a Jamaican American DJ who is credited for the creation of hip hop music in the Bronx, New York City, in the 1970s. Although hip hop historian Jeff Chang notes DJ Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash and Bambaataa as the “Holy Trinity of Hip Hop”, and many other artists before and of that time influenced the creation of Hip Hop music, DJ Kool Herc is popularly referred to as the “Founder of Hip-Hop” and “Father of Hip-Hop”.
