Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo earlier this week announced the sad news that his mother had passed away.
“It is with extreme sadness that I announce the death of my beloved mother Mary Gyawubea Badu (Popularly known as Auntie Mary) in the early morning of today Monday the 31st of October 2022 at Koforidua Regional Hospital. She was 84 Years. May Her Soul Find Eternal Rest.”
For that reason, he canceled all campaign activities that were geared toward winning the National Chairmanship position in the National Democratic Congress.
“Dear Comrades, it is with a heavy heart that I write to announce the passing of the matriarch and rock of my family, my dear mother, Madam Mary Gyawubea Badu. In one of the darkest moments in my life and that of my family, I am not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hearts. In view of this, I am temporarily suspending all campaign activities as together with the rest of the family, we reflect and mourn the passing of the woman who shaped our very beings.”

The question that Ghanaians are now asking is, why has Johnson Asiedu Nketsia not signed the book of condolence? Yes, these are early days to ask this question. However, considering the number of years the duo had worked together in the interest of the party, one would expect that Asiedu Nketsia will be the first to make that public gesture. It will be fair to assume that Asiedu Nketsia might have called Ofosu Ampofo or texted him to commiserate with him. However, it is on record that Asiedu Nketsia has not signed the books of condolence yet.
Why Has Asiedu Nketsia Not Commiserated With Ofosu Ampofo Yet?
This begs the question as to whether Asiedu Nketsia’s actions and inactions are because of the upcoming NDC national executive elections. Well, those are the thoughts hovering in the mind of Ghanaians.
These are early days to conclude so let us wait and see.
